Allsorts Youth ProjectAllsorts are currently recruiting for volunteers, particularly Bi, BME LGBT and Trans to help run weekly drop-in. After six months there may also be the opportunity to help with the groups.

The purpose of this role is to help Allsorts staff to run a supportive drop-in space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and unsure (LGBTU) young people aged 16-25. At the drop-in the young people can access information and support, meet other LGBTU young people their age and participate in a range of activities designed to promote their wellbeing (for example, workshops on sexual health, coming out and other relevant topics as well as more social and creative activities such as art and drama projects). CVSF are encouraging small volunteer-led groups to attend an upcoming ‘Social Finance’ workshop on Wednesday 3rd October 09.15 – 13.00 at BMECP (Fleet Street).  It will explore innovative solutions to funding activities as an alternative to grants.

It will help you to assess what new funding models are available, whether they’re right for your organisation and to take back some creative ideas to help you in your work.

The following speakers will be addressing the workshop:

  • An introduction to social finance – what does it all mean? Dan Gregory from Common Capital
  • Community shares model in practise: Will Cottrell from Brighton Energy Co-op
  • Resourcing the most disadvantaged: East Sussex Credit Union’s Role Now and in the Future – Alex Bailey
  • Crowdfunding to philanthropy: The Lunch Positive Experience – Gary Pargeter
