The LevelThe fences are coming down at the south end of The Level, which includes the children’s play area and the new skatepark, on Friday 26 July at 5pm, just in time for the summer holidays.

There will be ‘dancing’ fountains, a sensory garden, tables for board games and ping pong, a pétanque and seated bowls area, and picnic tables with embedded chessboards. Historic features from the early 1920s have been restored, including the park pavilions. The new skatepark, on the other side of the central Rose Walk path, will also be open for skaters and BMX riders.

The CityParks Projects team which has spearheaded the £2.3m restoration project, expects the rest of the northern area (including the specially-designed 2D artwork where the north lawns paths cross), plus the new eco-friendly café, to open in late August or early September.  The date for a grand opening event for the whole community to take part in and enjoy will be announced as soon as possible.
