New plans have been re submitted by Downland Housing Association, for the development of the Pioneer House site in Burstead Close, Hollingdean.

The original proposal was for 34 units with car parking, in two separate apartment buildings. The new plans are for a single 5 storey block consisting of 24 flats, with 24 car parking spaces, for let as affordable housing.

Some residents have opposed these plans on the grounds that this will still amount to overdevelopment and over crowding within the Close (as Pioneer House had less residents) as well as adding many cars into a confined area.

Residents are also concerned that the plans state these flats are for short term tenancy only, up to six months.  There is also an impact on local bus services, doctors etc. within the area.

You can view and comment on the application no. BH2009/02911 at the Brighton & Hove City Council planning office (Hove Town Hall) or online at www.brighton-hove.gov.uk The decision date for the application is by 11/03/10.  For more details also contact Gloria (local resident) on 888198.
