Multiple occupancy houses, such as shared student houses, were highlighted as a major issue in Hollingdean in the recent community survey conducted by Hollingdean Development Trust.
New plans have been unveiled by Brighton & Hove City Council to licence HMOs in targeted areas, including properties housing multiple students, to improve both the accommodation and neighbourhood relations.
The council wants to hear from residents, students and others over a 10-week consultation on additional licensing of HMOs of two or more storeys and three or more occupiers in wards including Hollingdean & Stanmer.
The survey is online at the council’s consultation portal at until 31st March, to give you a chance to have your say.

As previously reported, Hollingdean skate park is outdated and has been subject to vandalism. A common criticism is that it is ‘too out of the way’ and some of the skaters, especially younger ones, don’t feel safe.
Your views are important and you are invited to fill in a short questionnaire (attached – Word version | PDF version). Either return the completed form to Liz Lee – Community Development Worker by post or email. Or, you can bring it along to the public meeting on Tuesday at St Richards (see article below).
